REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Gabriella Rigoli 4/21/2025 8:24 AMAlthough meat has many nutrients and contains a lot of protein, eating excess amounts of meat can have detrimental effects on the environment. A lot of land, water & resources are needed to maintain divested, in addition to the greenhouse gases that are produced by the livestock. It is important for all of us to understand this impact and make smart choices when thinking about what to consume. -
Gabriella Rigoli 4/20/2025 9:31 AMHappy Easter to everyone who is celebrating! Although today is a holiday, I have been trying to continue with my daily challenges within the Eco Challenge! Almost at the end of the challenge! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityWhat are your top 3-5 core values? How did you narrow it down to those as being your core values?
Gabriella Rigoli 4/16/2025 6:25 AMI would say my top three core values are humility, compassion, and kindness. I narrowed it down to these as I feel like these are things that have been a constant in my life. Additionally, these are values that have been reinforced to me since I was young, and I hope to pass them down to my children eventually. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyHow is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?
Gabriella Rigoli 4/15/2025 9:22 AMWhere I normally live, electricity is generated through natural gas predominantly. This generates additional air pollution and water pollution. Also, it release greenhouse gas emissions, which is harmful to our environment as a whole. Overall, it is important to raise awareness of how our electricity is generated, so individuals are able to become more aware and reduce their usage to lessen harmful emissions. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow do you deal with the physical and emotional stress of the big problems we face? How can you help others cope?
Gabriella Rigoli 4/14/2025 12:49 PMFor me, I deal with physical and emotional stresses by talking to my friends and family as well as getting in some physical exercise. I feel it is important for me to look at the bigger picture and not just focus on what is happening in the moment. I hope to help other cope with issues in their life by being someone they can count on or someone they trust enough to go to with their problems. -
Gabriella Rigoli 4/13/2025 7:36 AMThe nice weather today inspired me to start my day with a walk to the monuments! Really trying to enjoy this warm weather and appreciate the nature around us after the past few days of rain. I was able to bring my reusable water bottle and get outside, which limited my screen time as well! A good start to the week! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow do you practice self care?
Gabriella Rigoli 4/11/2025 9:43 AMI practice self care by trying to do one thing a day for myself, whether that be talking a walk, watching a movie, or going to sleep early. I often struggle with this due to the intense demands of school and life but this challenge has forced me to prioritize my self care and I hope to continue this in the future -
Gabriella Rigoli 4/09/2025 6:17 AMAlmost halfway through the eco challenge and I have noticed myself unconsciously integrating a lot of these practices into my daily routine! I am glad this challenge has allowed me time to create a routine and I hope to continue these practices after the challenge has officially ended! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhy is voting important to creating a just, sustainable, and thriving world? In what other ways can you actively participate in important decision-making?
Gabriella Rigoli 4/08/2025 8:35 AMAs an American, exercising my right to vote is extremely important so that change can begun to be seen in our country. Voting allows you to choose people who express similar values as you to make important decisions for our country. Many people often think their own vote does not matter, but every vote indicates a person who is wanting to create change. During my semester abroad in Copenhagen, I was able to vote in the election through utilizing a mail in ballot, and many of my friends also voted this way. It is important to be an active participant in government through voting, as this is how we can begin to make a difference.
