REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureHow well do you know the area you live in? In what ways is a deep knowledge of your surroundings -- known as a 'sense of place' -- important to you?
Samuel Shearer 11/04/2025 6:56 AMI think I know the are I live in pretty well. It is important for me to have a sense of place of my surroundings to know where I am going to go. I pride myself on my sense of direction. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?
Samuel Shearer 11/04/2025 6:54 AMI went hiking the other week to a trail that I have never done at Gifford Pinchot State park. Spending time outdoors enhances my sense of place because it is very peaceful. Nice and quite with the sounds of nature. -
Samuel Shearer 11/04/2025 6:47 AMThis eco challenge has been going fairly well. It has been fun to see how I can improve myself and my environment and that impact that I have. In doing any of these challenges will only help me and my surroundings.-

Samuel Shearer 11/04/2025 6:45 AMThe eco challenge has been really fun. It has allowed me to take a step back and ask, how can I improve myself and the environment around me? Completing any of the challenges or actions will only have a positive impact. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationThe US spends roughly 20% of its federal budget on defense. In contrast, 2% goes to education, 20% goes to social security and just 3% goes to transportation infrastructure. Do these numbers surprise you at all? Why or why not? How would you adjust them if you could?
Samuel Shearer 11/04/2025 6:43 AMThese numbers do not surprise me. I am aware that the spending budget is extremely unbalanced. If some of the money was rerouting even 2% a lot more could get done. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?
Samuel Shearer 10/29/2025 10:49 AMI did an hour of speed and conditioning for rugby. I did not feel amazing doing it afterwards I felt very good. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterWhat did you notice about your habits or routines when limiting your showers to five minutes? What changes—if any—do you think you’ll continue long-term?
Samuel Shearer 10/29/2025 10:48 AMI notice that I am much more efficient with how I shower. I think that I will continue for a while and then go to a little longer. Nothing too drastically but maybe not exactly 5 minutes.
