  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Canning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA or another trusted source. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?

Pickled plums are actually super good, I need to learn how to make them!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
Who inspired you on the feed, and why? Did you meet anyone new, learn anything exciting, or discover a new perspective?

    Gideon Sim's avatar
    Gideon Sim 10/07/2025 4:49 PM
It's nice seeing all the differences everyone is making when they post to their feed! They may be small, but they add up!

I always like to see others' perspectives and ideas on the feed - sometimes it opens your eyes to something new!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What changes did you make to improve your sleep, and how did they affect your day?

    Gideon Sim's avatar
    Gideon Sim 10/07/2025 4:48 PM
I definitely need to start sleeping earlier. Sleeping later is what I'm used to however it also means I need to wake up later in the day for my full eight hours and my schedule can't handle that!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet? What fruits or vegetables did you try this week, and which was your favorite?

    Gideon Sim's avatar
    Gideon Sim 10/07/2025 4:47 PM
Eating more fruits makes my snacking faster and more enjoyable instead of having to make a sandwich or grab chips. I tried Apple Banana's this week, however I think I prefer normal ones.

Enjoying the ecochallenge so far! I need to remember to log in more often.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water
What did you notice about your habits or routines when limiting your showers to five minutes? What changes—if any—do you think you’ll continue long-term?

    Gideon Sim's avatar
    Gideon Sim 10/07/2025 4:45 PM
I sleep in longer because now I can designate less time to taking showers in the morning.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

    Gideon Sim's avatar
    Gideon Sim 10/07/2025 4:44 PM
Barriers would most likely be just access. I use a reusable water bottle whenever I am at home, however when I'm out I usually don't bring my bottle with me and end up having to purchase a plastic water bottle.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?

    Gideon Sim's avatar
    Gideon Sim 10/07/2025 4:43 PM
I eat a lot slower and appreciate the food I am consuming, also I lower my servings because I feel full faster.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity
How is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?

    Gideon Sim's avatar
    Gideon Sim 10/07/2025 4:42 PM
Having a better idea of what you want can help you identify exactly what you need.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature
Father Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?

    Gideon Sim's avatar
    Gideon Sim 10/07/2025 4:42 PM
The sunset is an incredibly beautiful way to start the day and it does help make us feel more in tune with not only the planet but also the universe we reside within.
