Waste

Reduce Single-Use Disposables

Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate. I will keep 3 containers out of the landfill each day.

DAILY ACTIONS

Waste

Skip the Straw

Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 2 plastic straws out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

COMPLETED 2
DAILY ACTIONS

Waste

Collect Litter While Plogging or Plalking

Each day, I will go on a plog or plalk for 15 minutes and collect 4 items of litter.

My campus ecochallenge is going good so far. I have been trying to pick up 3-4 pieces of litter each day while I go on a walk around campus. I've also been avoiding using straws and plastic lids which has been easy but also challenging because I have always viewed them as not very impactful to the environment.
