  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Choose Organic Ingredients
Many people say that “you can’t feed the world with just organic food.” How would you respond to that statement?

    Shiloh Triber's avatar
    Shiloh Triber 12/03/2023 7:42 PM
Because we need some unhealthy food too, for a balance.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Plant an Herb Garden
Consider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?

    Shiloh Triber's avatar
    Shiloh Triber 11/16/2023 6:30 AM
Some ways I can garden is in my backyard. My mom loves to plant things, so I could help her with that.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Enjoy the Sunrise/Sunset
Father Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?

    Shiloh Triber's avatar
    Shiloh Triber 11/15/2023 5:41 AM
I agree with Berrys assertion. The sunrise and sunset are a celebration. A celebration either a new day, or getting through the day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Community Help Others
In your opinion, how do social inequalities diminish a strong sense of community?

    Shiloh Triber's avatar
    Shiloh Triber 11/13/2023 5:45 AM
I think social inequalities diminish a strong sense of community because they separate people instead of bringing them together.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water 5-Minute Showers
Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

    Shiloh Triber's avatar
    Shiloh Triber 11/13/2023 5:36 AM
Some human impacts impacting the health of water locally is human waste and impacts globally is pollution. We can try to seperate our rivers from our sewage to protect the health of water.

I can prevent myself from accumulating more unnecessary things by cleaning monthly, and getting rid of things I dont need.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste RESEARCH LOCAL WASTE SITES
In what neighborhoods or areas of your region are landfills or other waste sites located? Which communities are most affected by these locations?

    Shiloh Triber's avatar
    Shiloh Triber 11/10/2023 11:20 AM
All of Asheville's landfills are located near the french broad river. A study by UNC students shows that the communities most affected by these landfills are populations filled by african americans rather than white people.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Find Local Recycling Depots
Our ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors, including market demand for recyclables. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?

    Shiloh Triber's avatar
    Shiloh Triber 11/10/2023 11:09 AM
I found that there are places called hard 2 recycle where you can drop off items that you can't just put in your recycle bin.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Water Brush My Teeth Without Running Water
What is the main water source in your region? If you don't know, how could you find out?

    Shiloh Triber's avatar
    Shiloh Triber 11/10/2023 10:25 AM
Asheville's main water source is in the black mountain. Our water flows from pure mountain streams.
