  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for using every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable (including the skins, tops, stalks, etc.) during your next meal prep?

most parts of vegetables can be used in other needs to like most can be turned to products for other use other than eating.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation
The US spends roughly 20% of its federal budget on defense. In contrast, 2% goes to education, 20% goes to social security and just 3% goes to transportation infrastructure. Do these numbers surprise you at all? Why or why not? How would you adjust them if you could?

No not really most of the U.S budget mostly goes into the protection of the citizens and online security from outer threats
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water
What is the main water source in your region? If you don't know, how could you find out?

    Vhaldai Valliere #104's avatar
    Vhaldai Valliere #104 4/08/2025 11:24 AM
our primary source is mostly surface water or groundwater since its our source of fresh water.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?

    Vhaldai Valliere #104's avatar
    Vhaldai Valliere #104 4/08/2025 11:05 AM
my hours of sleep are inconsistent so getting a better pattern would help my day go better. i sometimes try to sleep a little early when it comes to a busy day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

    Vhaldai Valliere #104's avatar
    Vhaldai Valliere #104 4/08/2025 11:04 AM
they have more access to the resources with the amount of money they hold. eating a lot of meat can be unhealthy because of the fat it contains
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water
Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

    Vhaldai Valliere #104's avatar
    Vhaldai Valliere #104 4/07/2025 9:17 AM
one thing I'm not sure happens is dumping sewage water back into the ocean is a big issue for me, which would be hard to fix since we don't have a place to drop it and get rid of it. Off-topic: dropping plastic in the ocean shouldn't happen when some people can drop their trash in a trash can, which is a simple solution most people don't follow.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy
What are other easy things you could do to save energy and reduce your environmental footprint?

    Vhaldai Valliere #104's avatar
    Vhaldai Valliere #104 4/07/2025 9:13 AM
its somewhat impossible due to hard switches is to go electric and mostly use solar panels or use an electric car. since cars are one of our the most carbon emitted objects on the planet.
