If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.

Go For A Daily Walk Outside
I will take a walk outside for 20 minutes each day.

Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 2 meatless meal(s) and/or 2 vegan meal(s) each day this week.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Car ShareTake a moment to think of places you frequent often (school, work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Karmyn Vaughn (cho 104) 10/17/2023 7:17 AMAn opportunity I find to be perfect for car sharing is Cheer practice with my friends. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Go get a check upHow do you practice self care?
Karmyn Vaughn (cho 104) 10/17/2023 7:16 AMBy doing things I love and sometimes prioritizing myself (sleeping, eating healthy, exercising, baths, reading)-

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Karmyn Vaughn (cho 104) 10/16/2023 11:05 AMPeople in richer countries eat more meat because they have more money and more access to the meat. Eating a lot of meat contributes to the release of greenhouse gases including carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Choose Two-Sided PrintingChoosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?
Karmyn Vaughn (cho 104) 10/12/2023 6:21 AMEncourage them to choose two-sided printing by explaining the consequences if they don't. It can be encouraged company wide as most papers don't have a reason not to be double-sided. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?
Karmyn Vaughn (cho 104) 10/11/2023 8:31 AMI usually either carry it or put it in another bag I already have. If I were to be in this position often, I would carry a reusable bag with me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Go For A Daily Walk OutsideFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Karmyn Vaughn (cho 104) 10/06/2023 9:30 AMTaking a walk everyday reduces stress and helps to relax the mind. When you are relaxed you can work better and more efficiently. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Volunteer in my CommunityWhat is one thing you can do to help your community become more sustainable?
Karmyn Vaughn (cho 104) 10/05/2023 5:54 AMVolunteer my hours and free time to help other people in the community. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Karmyn Vaughn (cho 104) 10/04/2023 7:01 AMIt does ring true for me. The natural world is beautiful and has a lot to give us if we give it the opportunity. A culture that spends its time indoors misses out on all of the natural benefits (which there are many of). -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Karmyn Vaughn (cho 104) 10/03/2023 6:36 AMPracticing gratitude keeps you centered and motivated to work for a better world because when you put positivity into the world, that is also what you get out of it. It is important to practice gratitude and appreciate what we have so that we can appreciate life. Being positive motivates me to make the world more positive. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Karmyn Vaughn (cho 104) 10/02/2023 7:14 AMI can use more reusable items such as water bottles, straws, bags, etc. Also, saving electricity when leaving the house by turning off my fan, lights, mirror, and TV. I can refuse using plastic items and other non-degradable things.
