Energy
Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 133 lbs of CO2 a month and 1,600 lbs of CO2 over the course of the next year.
Nature
Leave No Trace
I will practice the seven principles of Leave No Trace when doing nature activities alone or with family and friends.
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 20-minute walk outside each day.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Water
Brush My Teeth Without Running Water
I will save up to 8 gallons (30 L) of water each day by turning it off while brushing my teeth.
Water
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.

Ben Westrick 10/29/2023 3:07 PMThe challenge has been going good. I used to wash my clothes with hot water. This was when I used to sweat out all of my clothes because of sports and needed the hot water. Now I don't sweat out all of my clothes as often so I don't need to use hot water as much anymore. I have also been using a lot of straws but recently I've been trying to use my water bottle more but sometimes I forget it. These challenges have been going well but sometimes I forget about them and I try and do double to make it up in other small areas.
