Kurtis Miller 10/20/2025 11:54 PMOne of the most effective things I have learned is the beneficial impact a plant based diet has on the world. I like to encourage others to understand that plant-based diets aren't a sacrifice, but help enrich the range of foods we can eat, while improving resource conservation and environmental sustainability. So one thing I can do is create more plant based meals that encourage others to recognize the food tastes good and is low cost.

Community
Talk To My Friends and Classmates
I will research the social or environmental issues in my community that matter to me and tell 2 friends and classmates each day about what I learn. I will also share what I learn on the Ecochallenge feed.
Community
Watch a Documentary About Racial Injustice
I will watch 1 documentaries about systemic racism to learn more about how it affects us and the planet.
Energy
Power Down the Computer
I will power down my computer and monitor when not using it for more than 2 hours, saving up to (1.1) lbs of CO2 per day.
Health
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 30 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Community
Volunteer in my Community
I will volunteer 20 hours in my community or campus through clubs, service-learning, campus organizations, or other local events or opportunities.
Food
Enjoy a Meatless Meal
Producing 1 kg of beef emits as much greenhouse gas as driving 150 miles, meanwhile, 1 kg of veggies or grains leaves a much lighter footprint! This week, I’ll shrink my climate impact by having 6 meatless meals and/or 1 vegan meals each day.
Transportation
Share Rides with Others
I will sign up for a car-sharing service or coordinate ride shares with roommates, classmates, or campus peers to reduce the number of vehicles on the road.

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhat is one thing you can do to help your community become more sustainable?
Kennedi Woessner 10/20/2025 3:14 PMI volunteer at the local elementary school once a week- While I have been there, I have helped some of the students learn what is recyclable and not, as well as explained to some students why a reusable water bottle is better than a plastic bottle. Doing this has taught some of the next generation how to practice sustainable ways. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow was your experience intentionally trying to eat less meat?
Kennedi Woessner 10/10/2025 8:17 AMIt is more difficult than I thought to have no meat in my meals. It is especially hard for me to have a vegan meal. Still amazing food though! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyWhat are other easy things you could do to save energy and reduce your environmental footprint?
Kennedi Woessner 10/08/2025 8:03 AMTurning off my lights and my fan when I am not in the room. I could also unplug everything when I am not using them. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?
Kennedi Woessner 10/01/2025 11:11 AMWorking out helps me clear my mind and focus on myself rather than what I have to do that day. I love going for long walks because it allows me to reflect on myself and gives me time by myself. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhat makes you feel connected to your campus, your neighbors, or another kind of community in your life?
Kennedi Woessner 10/01/2025 11:08 AMI feel connected with others when I am helping others within the community or working with the community. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationTake a moment to think of places you frequent often (work, grocery store, school, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Kennedi Woessner 9/28/2025 7:23 PMI visit my sorority house at least 2-3 times a week, and I can ride with the other girls who don't live in the house, so there are fewer cars on the road. My roommates and I can also plan weekly trips to the grocery store instead of all going separately throughout the week.
