  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health Go get a check up
How do you practice self care?

    Amanda Wurzer 10/19/2023 9:53 AM
Taking showers, doing my makeup, and allowing myself to smile are just a few ways I practice self care.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Conserve Toilet Water
What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

    Amanda Wurzer's avatar
    Amanda Wurzer 10/19/2023 9:52 AM
A sustainable water future would be only flushing the toilet when it's needed, taking shorter showers, and not running water for long periods of time.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Needs Vs. Wants
How is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?

    Amanda Wurzer's avatar
    Amanda Wurzer 10/19/2023 9:50 AM
Creativity can allow a person to use products in ways they are not meant to be used for. This can save the individual from having to buy products they don't need to have.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Healthy Sleep
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?

    Amanda Wurzer's avatar
    Amanda Wurzer 10/19/2023 9:48 AM
I don't get as much sleep now as I should be getting, which leaves me feeling tired throughout the day. Walking away from the TV and going to bed earlier seems to help me sleep more.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Eat Mindfully
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?

    Amanda Wurzer's avatar
    Amanda Wurzer 10/19/2023 9:46 AM
Eating mindfully can cause you to focus more on what your body says rather than the distraction. One benefit is you would eat less because you can concentrate on exactly when you are full.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Drive Less
How has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

    Amanda Wurzer's avatar
    Amanda Wurzer 10/19/2023 9:44 AM
The fact that I have complete access to my car can make it tempting for me to want to always use it, but I challenged myself to only go to places I absolutely need to go to.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

    Amanda Wurzer's avatar
    Amanda Wurzer 10/19/2023 9:42 AM
The one issue with needing to use a reusable mug is the fact that it needs to be washed daily. That takes time and uses a lot of water, but it is worth it in the end because those disadvantages are not as harmful to the environment as single use cups.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Skip the Straw
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

    Amanda Wurzer's avatar
    Amanda Wurzer 10/19/2023 9:31 AM
This can be incorporated by limiting the amount of plastic used in one day. If I do however need to use a straw, for example, it's important to make sure it is put in the proper disposal bin.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Simplicity De-Clutter My Home or Dorm Room
How can you prevent yourself from accumulating more unnecessary things in the future?

    Amanda Wurzer's avatar
    Amanda Wurzer 10/19/2023 9:29 AM
I started organizing my room and when I do go out shopping, I ask myself if there is a place to put that new item. If the answer is no, I refrain myself from buying it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Work-Life Balance
How might practicing work-life balance lead to a more sustainable life for yourself? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?

    Amanda Wurzer's avatar
    Amanda Wurzer 10/19/2023 9:27 AM
I struggle with separating my work life and home life. I am constantly working, which leaves me feeling drained. I have learned to take time off for myself to just enjoy my day and do activities that make me happy.
