  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Explore My Area
How might spending more time outdoors enhance your brainpower?

Lilly Yanick (Slaysman Micro) 10/06/2023 7:51 AM
Going camping and hiking help brainpower for me at least because it releases a neurotransmitter called Dopamine. I also enjoy trail running outdoors which is another time when the body can release endorphins. All of which is great for not just the mind but also the body.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community Engage In Active Listening
What was it like to actively listen to someone? How did both people and the conversation(s) benefit from active listening?

Lilly Yanick (Slaysman Micro) 10/06/2023 7:48 AM
It was easy. We both were engaged and able to respond better to one another.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Simplicity De-Clutter My Home or Dorm Room

Being mindful before even bringing things into your home.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Enjoy the Sunrise/Sunset
Father Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?

    Lilly Yanick (Slaysman Micro)'s avatar
Lilly Yanick (Slaysman Micro) 10/04/2023 5:48 AM
I like what Berry said the sky and the sun are something worth celebrating by taking the time to watch the sunrise or sunset. I personally prefer to watch the sunset since its typically more vibrant.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Turn it off
How is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?

Powerlines, sub stations, electric companies. As humans we are benefited in way that we can use lights and A/C . The environment and animals don't benefit as much from electricity as it poses risks that can harm water that animals drink, and contaminate the air we breathe.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Spend Time Outside
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

Yes, I like to spend my time outside running. When I trail run it feels both beautiful to experience nature while also feeling mysterious with like thoughts of what else is out there with me. After finishing a run I always feel a lot better.
