My challenge is going well. I feel like my own gratitude for La Crosse specifically has been encouraged/grown. I participated in the Marsh clean up last Saturday and had a good time. It felt very good to be picking up trash that's been there for a while and to contribute to the community. Watching the thunderstorms last night was very cool, there was a feeling of surrealness each time the sky lit up with lighting. Earth is pretty cool.

The Eco challenge was challenging at first, but when you get into the routine of doing these things, it gets much easier. The most challenging action was the 5-minute shower, but since starting it, I have saved so much more time in my mornings. I have also been using a reusable cup more recently, which is much more environmentally safe, and I will probably keep sticking with this action even though the eco-challenge has ended

The ecochallenge has been very helpful in making me start recycling more and focusing on helping the environment. If I order food I avoid any straws or use of plastics. I also have a water bottle that I use now instead of constantly buying plastic water bottles. It has been pretty easy maintaining not using these plastics and has overall been fulfilling knowing that I am making a difference. I have also focused on making sure the lights in my house and other electronics are being turned off after they are used. Every time I see something left on I always go and turn it off. Also, I have been getting used to taking shorter showers. I still use music to help time my showers so I don't go over the time limit. Knowing I am making a difference is really rewarding in itself.

While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

Some barriers could consist of having to carry around a reusable bottle and keep track off them throughout busy days. As well as staying on top of cleaning the bottle and they can be pricey. A permanent habit is very possible, the more you do something, the more it can become a habit for you. Get used to filling up your water bottle before class everyday.

At this point, I no longer even think about using plastic water bottles; it has just become natural for me to refill my non-disposable water bottle when I wake up, at lunchtime, and before bed.

For my eco challenge, I did meditate for at least 10 minutes a day. So far, I have been able to do my challenge every day. I decided to do it before bed as a wind down period rather than being on my phone. It was hard to break the habit at first but now it is getting easier.

My Ecochallenges have been going well. I've been making a couple trips a week to grab groceries and making a meal that night and eating that instead of buying a lot of food and maybe not using all of it. I've been doing well at eating all my food and not wasting any, so I've felt good about that. I've also been going for a walk everyday except I missed one on Tuesday, but other than that I've been doing my challenges well.

      Hi Gabe!
I have been doing similar things to reduce food waste. Even though it doesn't feel like you are saving much food at first, it really adds up over time. I also have been walking more. I've always walked a few times a week as I have a few dogs. However, I have been trying to walk every day like you.

This challenge is going really well for me. At first going on a walk for 30 minutes a day didn't seem like it would do much, but now I actually look forward to it. It's been so nice to reconnect with nature everyday, especially after a long day. So far, my day has improved after my walk

I've never used a straw whenever I was offered one to keep plastic straws out of the land fill

My ecochallenge is going great. My challenges are helping me save energy and money like shorter showers and turning off my electronics when I'm not using them.
