Yes. I still think I'm addicted to sugar but I have become much more mindful of what I am putting into my body and how much sugar I am using to sweeten my food or drinks. Since lowering my sugar intake, I feel much more energized since I am not having as many crashes.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water
What is the main water source in your region? If you don't know, how could you find out?

After a quick google search, I learned that 2/3 of the water in San Diego comes from the Colorado River or is from the state water project in Northern California.

In San Diego, electricity is generated through natural gas as well as through renewable sources like solar panels and wind turbines. The wind turbines can kill birds but the solar panels around campus cause so harm to anyone!

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four in the US spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

This does not surprise me, I feel as if people often forget about the food that they purchase and end up throwing it away and wasting it. I would rather spend this money to pay for flights to see family!

Checking in for day 20 of 100 for the ecochallenge! I'm finding some trouble with reducing refined sugars & minimizing the amount of driving I am doing (due to work and living off campus), but I'm learning to adapt and adjust appropriately!

In my hometown, most of the electricity we use is generated by solar power and wind power. Specifically wind power can be a huge threat to animals (mostly birds), due to the risk of flying into the windmills. This is something that happens often in the Coachella Valley, and there are about 20+ deaths every year because of it.
