Autumn's actions
Food
Try a New Way to Prep
I will try a new method of food preparation, such as canning, pickling, or baking bread.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Cheap, single-use items and disposable packaging end up blowing around as litter more often in poor and POC-majority neighborhoods. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 3 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Energy
Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 133 lbs of CO2 a month and 1,600 lbs of CO2 over the course of the next year.
Simplicity
Go For A Daily Walk Outside
I will take a walk outside for 15 minutes each day.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 30 minute(s) each day.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 1 meatless meal(s) and/or 1 vegan meal(s) each day this week.
Waste
Choose Two-Sided Printing
I will save up to .21 lbs (.09 kg) of paper per day by switching from one-sided printing to two-sided when I have to print documents.
Health
Learn About Local Environmental Justice Concerns
I will spend 10 minutes researching environmental justice and environmental racism concerns in my region, who is affected by them, and local initiatives to address these concerns.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Participant Feed

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Autumn Brainard Dominguez 11/08/2023 11:31 AMI strive to workout almost everyday. Working out keeps not only my body healthy but my mind as well. since I have made exercise a priority I have noticed a significant improvement in my energy levels and mood. although, working out is not only been beneficial in this way but its also been a way for me and my boyfriend to connect. we go to the gym together and piggyback off each others motivation and encouragement to achieve our goals, I believe this has brought us closer as a couple and goes to show how exercise can incorporate personal values to make not only your body stronger but your entire life. -
Autumn Brainard Dominguez 11/07/2023 1:23 PMI've curated my daily actions to become more mindful in my daily life to become not only more sustainable but healthier overall as well. -
Autumn Brainard Dominguez 9/28/2023 1:36 PMMy eco challenge is going well, I reuse my water bottle. I've started printing papers front and back instead of on two different papers and i spend more time thinking about the environment and my part in it.
