Maggie's actions
Waste
Compost Food Waste
I will avoid sending up to .69 lbs (.31 kg) of food waste to the landfill each day by composting my food or learning how to.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Cheap, single-use items and disposable packaging end up blowing around as litter more often in poor and POC-majority neighborhoods. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Food
Buy From a Farmers Market
I will purchase produce and meat from a local farmers market or food co-op.
Energy
Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 133 lbs of CO2 a month and 1,600 lbs of CO2 over the course of the next year.

Maggie Hawkinson 4/21/2024 8:59 PMMy campus challenge is going well! One of my challenges is switching to cold water. I have been washing my clothes, taking showers, and cooking with cold water. I knew that using cold water was better for the environment, but after seeing the impact that is has had on reducing CO2, the cold showers are worth it!-
Kali Prihoda 4/24/2024 12:39 PMI also tried this, a little difficult at first but the it becomes a routine.
