I am working on using less plastic water bottles, taking shorter showers, and heating/cooling my apartment naturally. So far all of these have been a little challenging, but doable for sure. I think something that people might find useful from this experience is that I am not only helping the world out, but I am also spending less money on water bottles, water, and electricity.

My ecochallenge has been going pretty well so far. Honestly it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, it's more about remembering to be smarter with the way that I am consuming resources. I'd say that the hardest action for me is keeping my showers under 5 minutes because it is easy to just stand in the warm water.

Using fewer plastic water bottles will be a challenge for me because I have a meal plan and many of the meals come with a plastic water bottle. I learned that the world uses about a million plastic bottles per minute and that one way to reduce plastic use is to use reusable grocery bags for other tasks along with groceries. After learning more about this action, I discovered that plastic really is a problem, but it can be easily reduced by using reusable containers that have the same function with less waste. I talked with my roomates about this and they agreed that it would feel weird at first to not use the plastic water bottles that come with meals, but it can easily be replaced by just filling up our own reusable water bottles at the soda machines with water.
