REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Walk InsteadHalf of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Does this statistic describe your own transportation habits? If so, how might you incorporate more muscle-powered transportation in your daily life?
Alex Mach 10/25/2023 8:31 AMIn La Crosse, it seems like everything is 3 miles away or less. I try to walk everywhere I go unless I need to carry something like groceries. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Zero-Waste CookingIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for using every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable (including the skins, tops, stalks, etc.) during your next meal prep?
Alex Mach 10/25/2023 8:28 AMA lot of times the skin of the vegetable is where the best nutrients are. One of my favorite meals is mashed potato’s and I always leave the skin on.-
Rachael Clarke 10/25/2023 9:02 PMSame! It is so much easier to just leave the skin on too!

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Alex Mach 10/25/2023 8:26 AMMeat tends to be expensive and that is why richer countries eat more of it. Eating more meat can speed up global warming by deforestation. A example would be deforesting for more cattle ranches.
