REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Rylie Smith 10/11/2023 11:28 AMWhen walking, I am able to actually observe and listen to the nature in the neighborhoods as opposed to when I am driving. When driving, I tend to listen to music and only focus on that but when I am walking, I am able to listen to all of the different sounds from various animals and actually watch interactions occur. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Engage In Active ListeningWhat was it like to actively listen to someone? How did both people and the conversation(s) benefit from active listening?
Rylie Smith 10/10/2023 10:25 AMI felt like I was able to help these other people just by actively listening. They benefited by being able to vent out everything that was on their mind without interruption, and I was able to benefit by being able to better understand them. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Zero-Waste CookingIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for using every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable (including the skins, tops, stalks, etc.) during your next meal prep?
Rylie Smith 10/09/2023 9:12 AMI plan to make loaded baked potatoes and I will not have any waste from this. I will eat the skin on the potato because it provides the most nutrients.-
Emily Nies 10/09/2023 9:23 AMMy zero-waste meals consist of rat-friendly foods such as carrots, apples, oats, greens, etc. When I eat, my pet rats eat better!

REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Brush My Teeth Without Running WaterWhat is the main water source in your region? If you don't know, how could you find out?
Rylie Smith 10/09/2023 9:06 AMThe main water source in the La Crosse area is an aquifer in the valley of the Mississippi River. If you are not sure you could always look at the U.S. Geological Survey's National Water Information System online.
