    The needs vs want challenge is definitely helping with my spending habits.

    I think I would struggle with giving up apples. Although some apples are grown in the San Diego area, I doubt it is year-round, and apples have become an almost daily snack for me.

    These past two weeks I have opted to use zero straws whenever I receive or drink a beverage. I will continue this for the rest of the year. I implore everyone to do the same.

    I live less than a mile and a half from school, so walking or riding my bike makes sense. When I walk, I use the time to think about what's going on in my life, listen to music, or talk to friends or family on the phone. Walking takes an hour out of my day, but it adds to my health in many ways.

    Practicing mindfulness while I'm eating makes me more aware of how privileged I am in having the freedom I do when choosing what I eat. I am aware of what I am eating and my ability to choose a healthy and balanced diet.
