I think my challenge is going pretty well, although it is more challenging than I thought it would be. It is such a small habit that is kind of hard to break, of not turning off my lights when I leave my dorm. Especially my desk lamp or light because it's across the room from the door.

This is going well, it is more challenging than I had imagined. I have enjoyed this so far because it is a way to hold me accountable to exercise, and get outside.

Listening to a nature podcast for a few minutes in my day has been a relaxing and comforting way to learn more about the environment. So far it’s going well and I’m noticing more things about the local wildlife and feeling connected with nature.

I’m doing the 5-minute shower challenge. Sometimes I forget and go a little over, but I’m doing pretty well overall. I’ve learned that I usually spend more time in the shower than I realize, and cutting just a few minutes saves a lot of water. Others might find it helpful to set a timer and get everything ready beforehand, because it makes staying under five minutes much easier.

remember, you're not only saving water, but energy to both heat and then clean the water!

That’s amazing! It’s great that you’ve been connecting more with nature and becoming more mindful about conserving energy. Small changes really do make a big difference.

Father Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?

Father Thomas Berry’s idea that our primary purpose is celebration reminds us to honor and connect with the natural rhythms of Earth. By celebrating the dawn, sunset, and seasons, we deepen our relationship with the planet and recognize our place within the universe. This perspective encourages gratitude, mindfulness, and a sense of belonging to the greater whole.

I have started to be more mindful about the electricity that I use, mainly with turning off computers, lights, and fans when I leave my dorm. This has helped me be more mindful of my impact on the environment by reminding me often.

I’ve been walking and even biking more instead of driving. It’s not just better for the environment, but I also find it to be more enjoyable.

I have been spending more time outside. I have found interesting that you miss a lot of things like sound and how animals interact with the environment when you don't pay attention such as being on your phone.

I am planning my meals by buying ingredients like chicken and rice, or bread and sandwich meat, so I can make my own meals in my room and save resources.

it saves on packaging if you would have gotten fast food otherwise. Also reduces greenhouse gases if you're reducing beef consumption.
