Living in a dorm without any heating or cooling is suprisingly not bad!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity
Fresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?

Walking each day allows me to slow down and think. Not only do I have the ability to notice more of my surroundings by not rushing to a destination but also sharing time outside with neighbours and friends. Fresh air and movement should be experienced each day to keep us connected to our place, local area and community.

    Food
What is your perception of organic food? After cooking with and eating organic food, has your perception changed?

From a biological standpoint organic means with carbon. But from a holisitic view organic produce is free of chemicals, pesticides and fumes. This is not only much healthier for our bodies but also for our environment (rivers, oceans, lakes, fields and grasslands). Therefore, when I can I choose to buy organic certified products.

I think I’m still getting in the habit of checking in daily but I think the eco challenge is pretty good and a good experience that helps us be more mindful to the environment and ourselves.

I would always love to get more sleep, which is something ive been working on. I try to get ready for bed sooner so that I can actually go to bed at the right time.

good time management! I always need to remember to slow down and remember my reusable mugs/containers before I rush out the door to save from disposable or single use packaging of food or beverages.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature
Father Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?

I couldn't agree more! Watching the sun set each day is a daily ritual for me, it signifies the end of the day. It is a moment where I can reflect on what brought me gratitude, the lessons I learnt that day or the time I shared with people around me. This practice establishes a relationship between people and the natural cycles of time and earth.
