I have a partner on the PFS board who does absolutely amazing at reducing personal waste so I've tried to take on various tips from her and I'm proud to say that for the first time I only used one recyclable bag of waste in my bathroom this past month!

Creativity is essential to practicing simplicity because it helps us rethink our habits, routines, and assumptions. By approaching challenges with a creative mindset, we can discover new ways to reduce waste, use resources more intentionally, and focus on what matters most. Whether it's saving time, conserving energy, or minimizing material consumption, creativity allows us to find sustainable solutions that make our lives both simpler and more effective.

Today was tough. I'm travelling for work and working through some craziness, so making time to be outside and make plastic free choices was not easy. My reusable cups that I carry kept me hydrated and plastic free!

Do you know where your campus or community gets its water? If not, how could you find out?

This was something I was very guilty of because I like to rinse and brush multiple times. I've now made a conscious effort to brush the full 2 minutes without any running water.

So thankful I did this, I learned that some items were toxic to my pet so I have removed them. Last ecochallenge I switched to homemade cleaners and reusable cloths so I'm definitely making a lot of progress!

I love having fresh flowers in my home, but with a cat I have to be so careful of any type of lily in a premade bouquet.

    Food
When you know who produces your food, you are connecting personally to your complex regional food system. What are the advantages of knowing who produces your food and where it comes from? How can knowing their food producers enable someone to advocate for a better quality of life for those who produce their food, both near and far?

With this latest "lettuce fallout" it had bumped this up to being more proactive on learning where my food comes from. I was able to meet my local farm from the farmers market that I utilize weekly, I learned about what they do and now have more purchase options to expand my local food resources.

This weekend I finally went through one of our guest closests to purge all the items/clothes that I haven't utilized since 6 years ago. Did I want it all? Yes. Did I need it all? No. I was able to repurpose the clothes for the "Just For One Project" for high school teens who are less fortunate and also "CASA" and "DRESS FOR SUCCESS" for my work clothes, and also donated our excess luggage to the local Foster Care Center.

    Nature
What is one way you can reduce your impact on nature the next time you spend time outdoors, and how might that action help preserve the environment for others?

One way I can reduce my impact on nature is by making sure I pack out everything I bring in, including food scraps and other waste. Leaving no trash behind helps keep natural areas clean, protects wildlife from consuming human food, and preserves the experience for other visitors. It also prevents pollution from entering local ecosystems and waterways.
By taking this simple action every time I'm outdoors, I can help ensure that trails, parks, and waterways remain healthy and enjoyable for future generations. It's a small habit, but when practiced consistently by many people, it can have a significant positive impact on the environment.

I enjoy walking and pilates the most. They help quiet my brain and be more productive because I was active.
